340B and Government Spending

An article for Real Clear Health suggests that the best way to cut government spending is to reform the 340B drug program. With 50,000 hospitals qualifying for the program but very few underserved patients actually seeing the intended benefits, the 340B program is not serving its intended purpose all while racking up government spending. The lack of accountability required by the program allows for continued exploitation in the administration of these discounted drugs, often meaning patients are forced to pay incredibly high prices, generating large windfalls for these hospital networks.
