Delaware’s Lead Pipe Problem
Advocates are fed up with a lack of transparency on drinking water quality and lead contamination in Delaware’s schools. Children in Delaware are exhibiting uncommonly high levels of lead in their bodies, with the state doing little to address the contamination in schools and housing. There is no safe level of lead exposure, with elevated levels being linked to cognitive and behavioral delays and adverse health impacts. The state hasn’t tested water quality in schools since 2023 and has done very little to mitigate the impact of exposure since.
