American Food Insecurity Surpasses Pandemic Levels

A recent poll from Morning Consult, who holds monthly surveys tracking American food insecurity, reveals that the number of adults who sometimes or often don’t have enough food to eat has been rising over the past several years. Their May 2025 poll reveals that 15.6% of adults were food insecure, almost doubling the rate in 2021. According to federal data from 2023, this most recent number also appears to be above the reported food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
