Residents of Jackson, Mississippi are having trouble accessing nutritious food, with the closest full-service grocery stores located miles away from some neighborhoods. A recent public hearing at a City Council meeting explored solutions to support existing stores, prevent further closures, and attract new grocery businesses to the city. Many neighborhoods of Jackson are classified as food deserts, with residents unable to access healthy, affordable food.
