New York’s Lead Problem

The Rockefeller Institute of Government recently published and analysis of New York State’s progress in identifying lead pipes. The report shows that since initial reporting almost a year ago, more than 90% of the state’s drinking water facilities have inventoried their lead service lines. The report also shows that over 200 systems have been logged improperly. New York’s lead crisis is indicative of a nationwide problem, as states attempt to replace their aging infrastructure, things get lost in the process. Many states have complicated reporting and inventorying process that delay lead replacement.
