North Carolina Fights Food Deserts

Community organizations across rural North Carolina gathered in September to address food insecurity and improve food access in underserved communities. The event, “Nourish to Flourish,” focused on the “Food is Medicine” movement, which integrates nutritious food into healthcare and community wellness strategies. The “Nourish to Flourish” conference featured panels and discussions on grassroots responses to food deserts as an overall strategy to combat health inequality. Our Health Equity advocates for practical solutions that ensure widespread access to nutritious and accessible food for all Americans. Read more here.
