PFAS Elimination Failures
Garbage incinerators are being pushed as a solution to the indestructible nature of PFAS water but are largely failing to mitigate risks of PFAS exposure. These “forever chemicals” are highly dangerous and near impossible to breakdown, with exposure leading to long term health issues. Reports claim that using an incinerator to break down PFAS waster reduces emissions by 99.6%, but advocates say this doesn’t tell the full story. Incineration facilities are likely polluting the air and water sources of nearby communities with PFAS and other chemicals. Many of these communities have high populations of people of color and poor Americans. Our Health Equity advocates for specific and actionable solutions to PFAS exposure that ensure all Americans have access to clean air and drinking water. Read more here.
