340B in Washington State
This week, a Washington judge struck down a challenge from pharmaceutical companies on a 340B regulation bill. The bill, which Governor Ferguson signed into law in March, seeks to increase transparency in the drug pricing program and stop manufacturers from restricting who can dispense their medications. Added regulations like these attempt to protect access to discounted medications for patients who can’t otherwise afford them. The challenging drug companies argue that the state policy unconstitutionally overrides federal law, and the legal challenge is expected to continue in court.
