PFAS In California’s Water

A recent pesticide analysis finds “forever chemicals” in about half of California’s drinking water sources. PFAS chemicals are known to be indestructible and incredibly dangerous, leading to several health problems including cancer. The analysis is the first to systemically check for PFAS from pesticides in California’s streams and rivers. The levels of PFAS found in these water sources were described as “alarming but not surprising” by one of the co-authors of the report. A moratorium on the introduction of new pesticides recently passed in the California State Assembly as an attempt to limit future contamination. Our Health Equity advocates for specific and actionable solutions to PFAS exposure that ensure all Americans have access to clean drinking water. Read more here.
