California Healthcare Heroes

A group of nurses from Watsonville Community Hospital in California fight back against hospital closures. The hospital announced a proposed closure of their ICU in January in order to cut costs. Watsonville serves as a safety net hospital for vulnerable populations in California and losing the ICU would mean a loss of access for critical care patients. The nurses of Watsonville organized a press conference to explain the dangers of closing the ICU and encourage the board to reconsider. Our Health Equity applauds these nurses and advocates for community solutions that ensures Americans have access to healthcare no matter where they live. Read more here.
