DC’s Food Desert Solution

Common Good City Farms is working to address food deserts in the nation’s capital through urban farming. Recent reports from the US Department of Agriculture suggest that 27 million Americans live in food desert, or areas where residents do not have access to affordable, healthy food. Common Good City Farm is attempting to address this problem in DC through community-based programs that teach children to grow their own healthy food and cook with the food they’ve grown. The organization also has a community fridge where anyone can get the food they need. Our Health Equity advocates for community lead solutions, like these programs, that ensure widespread access to healthy and affordable food for all Americans. Read more here.
