Lead Poisoning Effects on Children

Young children are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of lead contamination, especially lead poisoning. Lead is unsafe for consumption for people of all ages but has major health concerns for children under six and pregnant people. The Houston Department of Health has developed a program that increases education, access to screenings, and prevention in high-risk areas.
