Local Organizations Fight Food Deserts in Minnesota

Twin Cities nonprofits are stepping in to fill the gap left by grocery store closures in low-income communities. Nearly 900,000 Minnesotans live in food deserts, with the highest concentration in the Twin Cities. People living in food deserts live more than half a mile from a grocery store with limited access to fresh, nutritious food. Organizations like Brightside Produce and the Twin Cities Mobile Market are working to bring healthy food into these communities.
