Michigan Residents Fight Lead Contamination

A lawsuit against the state of Michigan alleging that the state covered up lead contamination in Benton Harbor is allowed to proceed in the Michigan Court of Appeals. The state tried to dismiss the case, saying that Benton Harbor residents missed their window to file a complaint, but the Court of Appeals has allowed the case to continue. Residents allege that the state told them the contaminated water was safe to drink, putting them at danger for a host of health problems linked to lead consumption.
