340B Expansion in 2025
In 2025, the size of 340B profits increased 23%, fueling calls for program reform and increased transparency. Hospitals and outpatient facilities purchased $100 billion worth of 340B discount drugs, and 340B spending has more than doubled in the last five years. While $80 million of these purchases were made by disproportionate share hospitals, there is still a lack of charity care being provided and little required transparency on how 340B discounts are being used.
