Pennsylvania’s Hospital Plan
State lawmakers in Pennsylvania are attempting to create a law to protect hospitals from consolidation and closures. The state has experienced several hospital closures in the last year and 32 closures since 2004. To address this crisis State Representative Dan Frankel is working across the aisle to create a bill that grants oversight responsibilities of for-profit hospitals to the Attorney General. This oversight power could be instrumental in ensuring that transactions in the healthcare space are in the public interest.
