Rural Patients face Neurological Risks

Patients experiencing strokes and other neurological emergencies are uniquely affected by rural hospital closures, having to travel long distances for life-saving care. In some rural areas, patients have to travel up to 35 miles for care, causing more people to suffer preventable injuries or even die. Because many urgent care practitioners lack the specialty-specific education to treat neurology patients, many rural Americans are unable to receive the vital care they need as hospital closures become more widespread and specialty services become less common.
