Texas Healthcare is in Crisis
The last decade has been a tough time for Texas hospitals, with 21 hospitals closing since 2016. Texas leads the country in hospital closures, though hospitals nationwide have been consistently closing completely or cutting services in the last ten years. Texan lawmakers are trying to address this issue by finding new ways to provide high level care, adequately staff hospitals, and secure funding for services. Rural hospitals are especially at risk of closure as recruitment and retainment of staff is difficult and patient rates are low.
